Understanding the Dynamics of Return: The Importance of Microfoundations

Displaced persons are relevant actors in determining not only some of their life options but also some of the final results of violent conflict and policies addressing such conflict. Patterns of relocation and return are a key part of those results, especially ethnic-related conflicts. An introductory model to the micro foundations of return (and relocation) is presented here. This model is intended to provide tools for a better understanding of the way violence affects individuals, and more concretely of the way individuals react and cope with it. Particular emphasis is given here to the role played by security concerns (originating in the conflict) in the decision-making process.Les personnes déplacées devraient être considérées comme ‘acteurs qualifiés’ pour décider non seulement de certains des choix qui s’offrent à elles dans la vie, mais également lorsqu’il s’agit de certains résultats finaux découlant des conflits violents et des politiques en matière de gestion des conflits. Les courants et tendances en matière de réinstallation et de retour représentent un élément essentiel de tels résultats eu égard à beaucoup de conflits contemporains, plus particulièrement les conflits d’ordre ethniques. Un modèle préliminaire sur les micro-fondements du retour (et de la réinstallation) est proposé ici, dans le but de fournir des outils pour une meilleure compréhension des effets de la violence sur les individus, et plus concrètement la manière dont les individus y réagissent et y font face. L’emphase est particulièrement mise sur le rôle que jouent les préoccupations liées à la sécurité (ayant leurs origines dans le conflit) dans le processus décisionnel

La estética del pastiche posmoderno. Una lectura crítica de la teoría de Fredric Jameson

En el presente artículo se pretende sacar a la luz los presupuestos filosóficos e ideológicos que subyacen a la teoría del pastiche postmoderno del pensador norteamericano Fredric Jameson. Pese a que las descripciones que se encuentran en La lógica cultural del capitalismo tardío son breves y escuetas, los fundamentos marxistas y estructuralistas que las ahorman ayudan a entenderla. En paralelo, se explica una de sus tesis más desconocidas, la relativa a la llamada «película nostálgica», y se explica su actitud ante otras manifestaciones artísticas postmodernas como la arquitectura historicista.This paper intends to clarify the philosophical and ideological backgrounds that underlie the North american thinker Fredric Jameson’s theory of the postmodern pastiche. Despite the fact that the descriptions provided in Postmodernisms, or the Cultural Logic of Capitalism are brief and succinct, the Marxist and Structuralist foundations that form them can help understand this theory. The religious heroism: a brief approximation to the metaphysical anthropology of María Zambrano

En este artículo defiendo la tesis de que la antropología metafísica de María Zambrano, asociada normalmente a sus libros El sueño creador y Los sueños y el tiempo, de mediados de los años sesenta, estaba siendo meditada, aunque todavía no desarrollada completamente, en el año 1938, cuando publica su primera incursión en la novela Misericordia de Benito Pérez Galdós. Además, se define dicha metafísica, en clara oposición a la de Ortega y Unamuno, como «heroísmo religioso».In this article I defend the thesis that Maria Zambranoʼs metaphysical anthropology, normally associated with her books El sueño creador and Los sueños y el tiempo, of middle of the sixties, was being pondered, though still not wholly developed, in the year 1938, when she publishes her first incursion in the novel Misericordia by Benito Pérez Galdós. In addition, the above mentioned metaphysics are defined, in clear opposition to Ortega´s and Unamuno´s metaphysics, as a «religious heroism»
